Download the new Android Marketplace

Yesterday, Google announced an update to the Android Marketplace. The update included many minor updates such as multiple account support and Google movie and book intergration. The main update to the Android Marketplace is to the UI.
It doesn’t seem long ago that Google updated the Marketplace UI last time. I’ve got to say though, the update is very welcome! Some say that the update makes the Marketplace look jumbled. However, the majority agree that the update gives the Marketplace a slick and good look.
The new Android Marketplace hasn’t officially been released but a leaked version is available for download here.

Pros

  • Good look – Some may disagree, but most prefer the new Android Marketplace look.
  • Easier to discover good apps – The new Android Marketplace makes it much easier to get to app categories such as Editor choice, Staff’s choice and the top apps.
  • Includes movies and books – People in the US will be able to download movies and books directly from the Marketplace.
  • Multiple account support – The new Marketplace allows you to store multiple accounts and then switch between them easily.

Cons

  • Bug – Many users have reported that the new Marketplace has worked perfectly. The thing is, I can’t say the same! Unfortunately, the Marketplace occasionally crashed out on me when I tried to install an application.

Conclusion

I wouldn’t say that the Android Marketplace was screaming out to be updated but the update is definitely welcome. It is nice to see a few new features but the new UI has stolen the show. The UI not only makes the Android Marketplace look great but makes it a pleasure to use.
