How to and why enable audible selection (sound when pressing touchscreen) on Android

Nearly every Android smartphone has a touch screen. Although touch screens are great and open a huge amount of possibilities, they don’t give you feedback which means you don’t get reassurance that you clicked the right button. For most of us now, we have trained our selfs to use touch screens without worrying that we pressed the right thing.
If you want that little bit of reassurance when you click a button on your Android mobile then there is a solution. You can enable a clicking sound so when you press a button on your mobile the sound will play. Set the option by:
  1. Opening the settings app
  2. pressing sound
  3. Ticking the box next to the haptic feedback option

Pros

  • Reassurance – This option can be very useful for people who are not used to using a touchscreen. A small thing that will make peoples transition from a dumb phone to a smart phone that little bit easier.

Cons

  • Annoying – I don’t know about you, but hearing a little clicking noise can be very annoying when you hear it hundreds of times a day.
  • Most of us don’t need it – Personally, I don’t really need this because I am used to using a touchscreen. I’ve seen others such as my Dad use a touchscreen and they have been less successful in using it, the audible selection option will be very useful for novice touch screen users. Even if you don’t need it you may know someone who owns an Android phone who does.

Conclusion

There you go, a simple but useful tip that will help many Android users feel confident when they press a button on their phone.
