Get detailed weather reports with the Weatherbug app

Problem

With clock widgets such as the HTC sense widget and the Beautiful widget also including weather reports, most people never feel the need to download a dedicated weather widget for their Android device. However, the weather reports on widgets are not very detailed and only give you predicted weather conditions and temperature.

Solution

Weatherbug is a highly rated weather app that comes as a free and paid version. It has a standard 7 day forecast which will show the predicted weather conditions, temperature and wind direction and speed. On top of this, there are many other features such as:
  • Detailed description of weather – You can view a detailed description of the predicted weather and temperature for the next 7 days.
  • Video forecast – Rather than reading the weather you may prefer to watch a video forecast if you have a spare few minutes.
  • Pollen data – If you have hay fever then the pollen data will be very useful.  (Note: This feature only works in the USA)
  • Camera images – This feature will show you a camera shot of a place in your area. I am not sure how useful this feature is though.
  • Map – You can apply filters to the map so you can easily see the weather conditions and temperatures of a large area.

Pros

  • Detailed weather report – The app allows you to view detailed information and descriptions of weather conditions and temperature.
  • Many extra features – The app includes many extra features such as pollen data and video forecasts which make the app even more useful.

Cons

  • User interface – The user interface isn’t bad! It could be much better though. Its easy to navigate through the app but it could look and feel much better.

Conclusion

If you want to geek out on the weather then I would recommend Weatherbug. Its a great app that has many features which give you a much deeper insight into the weather.
