How to lock applications on Android

Smart phones are holding more and more confidential and important information so it is vital that your mobile is very secure. However, applications such as Gmail do not require a password so if anyone gets hold of your phone then they can freely look through your private data.

Solution

Pinnacle Locker is a very well designed app that used to cost but is now free. The app simply works by letting you set a password and the applications that you want to protect. Once you have activated Pinnacle Locker, any app that you choose to protect will require a password before the app is opened. The app requires that you set your email address before it is activated so if you forget the password you can easily recover it.

Pros

  • Easy to use – It is very easy to set protection of apps and it is easy to pass the lock screen quickly.
  • Easily switch protection of apps – Pinnacle Locker has a feature called profiles. Different profiles can be set and chosen so you can easily switch which apps are protected. This feature is useful if you want to protect certain apps when you are somewhere such as work and not when you are at home.

Cons

  • Glitch – When I was testing the app I found that I could cancel the lock screen and proceed to the application. However, this was only on one occasion and it appears that other users are not having a similar problem.

Conclusion

Pinnacle Locker is a great app that protects apps very well. The profiles feature is not present on all application lock apps but I believe it is a very important feature. If you want to make your handset and data more secure then I would recommend using this app to lock other apps on Android.
